Rite of Passage?

Last night we had to have a major talk with our 14 year old that got me to thinking. What is a young man's right of passage into Manhood. For a young lady we feel like we have entered that exclusive club once we get our menstruation. As I think over my own experience, I was quite anxious to get into that "club", and once I reached there I donned a new attitude of maturity, or I would like to believe I did. I even look at my two Princess' both ladies are very mature beyond their age and have gone through our female rights of passage. So back to my question, what is a young man's right of passage? What do you do to prepare a young man to enter into manhood prepare for what he is going to face? As I struggle with what my role is in this transition, I realize that I must take a back seat, that I cannot teach my sons how to be men. This is hard for me as a mother, because I feel like I know what is best, but I am not a man and therefore common sense tells me I cannot teach them how to be one. What I can teach them is the type of woman that will need and should desire by their side. I do that by my actions, by being consistent, by showing them that I am invested in their future and their hopes & dreams.

I am blessed because I have a strong christian man in my house that loves his children so deeply that he would lay down his life in order that they would succeed and prosper. He consistently presents to them a man of honesty and integrity, God has been good to my family.

Any Comments.. suggestions... prayers and/or direction is always appreciated.
